Jason Faircloth

2nd Grade Teacher

“I love working with GEM because of the daily opportunity to share with kids the hope of the gospel. This is of primary importance in this ministry and education is second. That's the way it should be.”

Wife and mother in Puerto

“Living in Puerto Escondido has given me a chance to experience a unique culture and learn a new language. Every day I find myself inadequate which drives me to the cross... that is never a bad thing!”

Johanna Berg

Volunteer & Sponsor

"My name is Johanna Berg. My time at The Manantial School stands out as being one of the highlights of my life. I have never before been able to so wholeheartedly encounter, join, and fully support a ministry. Towards the end of my month of helping in the 3rd and 4th grade class, I knew that I wanted to sponsor one of these precious kids… actually, I wanted to sponsor all of them! How to choose?? One night, I woke up in the middle of the night with Cielo deeply on my mind. I couldn’t sleep, and knew I needed to pray for her. The next day at school, she gave me the biggest hug ever, and I knew that God had put her on my heart for a reason. It is so awesome to come back a year later, and to see the way that God has blessed my money and my prayers through the hard work of the teachers! Cielo carries herself with a new confidence, and she understands everything I say now. I am so blessed to be able to see her growth, and to continue to support her through this ministry!"

Elementary Principal & 2nd Grade Teacher

“Teaching children is what God gifted me in doing but I never imagined moving to another country to do it. Teaching here in Puerto Escondido has proven to be one of the most rewarding experiences I've ever had! It is not always easy, however, the struggles are outweighed by immense joy from the Lord as I work side by side with my students each day. The relationships I have built with my students and their families are a blessing and I thank God for the way he is working in my life!”
