Daniel and Kristen McDonald

GEM Missionaries

Kristen and Daniel met in Lynchburg, VA and started their adventure of marriage in November 2015. Daniel graduated from Liberty University with a B.S. in Communication (2011) and a Master’s of Divinity in Evangelism and Church Planting (2014). He serves the Director of Communication for GEM. Kristen graduated in May 2016 with a B.S. in Elementary Education and serves as a 4th-grade teacher. She is passionate about using education to help children and make disciples.

Casey and Meg Herring

Co-Founders/Executive Director

Casey and Meg Herring met overseas in Brazil while serving as teachers. Casey received a B.S. in Secondary Education from Western Oregon University and an M.S. in Global and International Education from Drexel University. He has 19 years of teaching and leadership experience. Casey is currently serving as the CEM Director. Meg received a B.S. in Elementary Education from the University of North Carolina Wilmington and an M.S. in Education from Liberty University. She taught second grade for four years, and now enjoys the gift of being able to stay home with their four precious children.

Rachel Ellzey

Sponsorship Coordinator

Rachel graduated in 2014 from the Communication Studies department at the University of North Carolina Wilmington, with a focus in video production. She loves her home state of Texas, where her family still resides. Rachel served as a missionary teacher for a year and is now living in North Carolina with her new husband working as GEM's Sponsorship Coordinator and Director of Communications.

Jason and Kate Faircloth

Director of Mission Advancement

Jason and Kate Faircloth are from North Carolina and got married in 2010. In 2013, they followed God's calling join GEM's mission in Mexico. The Faircloths have recently moved back to North Carolina. Jason has a B.A. in Spanish and a K-12 teaching license from the University of North Carolina Wilmington. Jason serves as GEM's Director of Mission Advancement. Kate organizes special events for GEM and is blessed to be a full-time stay at home.

David Coulter

GEM Missionary

David has been working in IT at North Carolina Housing Finance Agency for 23 years and has lived in Durham, NC for 30 years. David taught Scottish Highland Dance for 40 years. He felt the call to teach at a Christian School in 2012 and finished his degree in Elementary Education in August of 2016. David is very excited to be serving with GEM and making a difference for Christ!

Tracy Frohlich

GEM Missionary

Tracy Frohlich is from Greensboro, North Carolina, originally but has been living in the Houston, Texas area for 2 years prior to serving with GEM. In 2013, she graduated from Erskine College, in South Carolina with a B.A. in Psychology and Sociology. She loves worshiping God through music and is excited about what the Lord is teaching her through this unique opportunity with GEM!

Kayla Miller

GEM Missionary

Kayla Miller was born and raised in Copley, Ohio. She spent two years studying the Bible at The Word of Life Bible Institute and then joined as a staff member serving as an admissions counselor. Kayla is passionate about God’s word, teaching, and children! As she follows God’s call to serve with GEM, she cannot wait to see how God uses her on this adventure of glorifying Him!

Shelby Davis

GEM Missionary

Shelby is originally from McComb, Ohio and moved to Lynchburg, Virginia in 2014 to begin school. She will graduate from Liberty University in December 2018 with a B.S. in Special Education. Shelby loves to travel and explore God’s creation and meet new people along the way! Shelby is thrilled to have this opportunity to serve with GEM and do what she is so passionate about—sharing the Gospel through education!

Maggie Addison

GEM Missionary

Maggie is from Durham, North Carolina and recently graduated from High Point University with a B.A. in Spanish and Nonprofit Management. During her high school years, the Lord drastically changed her life, giving her a passion for language-learning, traveling, and cross-cultural missions. She now lives to serve the Lord in whatever way she can with the passions he has given her. She is overjoyed to be apart of such a God-glorifying organization!

Rob and Mauri Moser

GEM Missionaries

Rob and his wife, Mauri, were married in 2004 and have been blessed with 5 children (2 biological and 3 adopted). Rob has a Master of Education degree in Counseling and Development from Winthrop University. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor, who also has many years experience teaching children of all ages. Before serving with GEM, Rob served as the Director of Children's Ministries at his church in Wilmington, NC. Mauri has a Masters of Human Resources degree from the University of South Carolina.

Philem Andress

GEM Missionary

Philem is from Lynchburg, Virginia. She graduated from Liberty University with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with a cognate in English and a minor in Global Studies. The Lord has placed in her heart a deep desire to serve Him abroad to minister to children through education. She enjoys being active in sports, running and other outdoor activities.

Brett & Annie Balsley

GEM Missionaries

Annie and Brett met in Florida and got married in July 2017. They spent their first year of marriage in Cedarville, OH as Brett finished his B.A. in Communication. Annie spent two years teaching kindergarten at GEM's Manantial School before they got married. They love being outside in creation, coffee, adventures, and spending time with people. They’re stoked to be GEM missionaries as their friendship years ago was founded upon a passion for missions.

Rachel Hill

GEM Missionary

Rachel is from Matthews, North Carolina and recently graduated from High Point University with a B.A. in Elementary Education. She loves sweet tea, singing loud in the car, dancing whenever a good jam is played, and spending time with friends and family. In addition, she has a passion for the nations coming to know Jesus as Savior, and she has a love for teaching. Rachel is excited and thankful for the opportunity to combine both of these God-given passions as she serves with GEM as a teacher.

Kayla Sumile

GEM Missionary

Kayla is originally from Wahiawa, Hawaii, but she has spent the last 15 years in Charlotte, NC. She received her B.A. in Elementary Education at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Kayla spent two years teaching Kindergarten in Charlotte, but she is excited to teach in Mexico with GEM. She loves coffee, finding fun new restaurants, spending time with friends and family, and breaking into spontaneous classroom dance parties. The Lord has given her a deep love for children and the nations, and she is thrilled to fulfill both of those passions through GEM!

Heather Wrench

GEM Missionary

Heather Wrench graduated from Bluefield College with a degree in History Education. She has lived in Bluefield Virginia for 4 years and grew up in Dunn, NC. Heather felt called to missions when she was in middle school and feels blessed to finally have the opportunity to serve as a full-time missionary following God’s calling for her life.
